BEUC, the European Consumers' Organisation, is the Brussels based federation of 34 independent national consumer organisations from the EU, accession and EEA countries. Their job is to try to influence, in the consumer interest, the development of EU policy and to promote and defend the interests of all European consumers.

GMOs or NO GMOs?
The choice should be ours
BEUC, the European Consumers Organisation, represents 34 consumer organisations, from all EU countries as well as accession countries.

Main consumer demands in relation to genetically modified food:
• Information must be provided on whether a food or food ingredients have been genetically modified
• All ingredients derived from GMOs (such as oil) must be labelled even if no longer detectable by testing
• Misleading GMO-free labels are not an acceptable solution for consumers
