transparent communication
To respect the choices made by consumers, European industries
have put in place traceability systems to detect and identify
the presence of genetically modified organisms.
The new labelling and traceability regulations for genetically
modified organisms that are currently being adopted by the European
Institutions, foresee the labelling of all foods, not only those
where either DNA or modified protein can be detected, but also
those products with ingredients derived from GMOs. In practice,
these measures would be difficult to apply and do not better inform
the consumer.

Only transparent and efficient communication on the advantages
and benefits of genetically modified organisms for consumers will
lead to the acceptance of this technology. This is why the European
food and drink industry encourages and supports all efforts undertaken
to this end.
