BEUC, l'Organizzazione Europea di Consumatori, ha sede a Bruxelles ed è formata da 34 organizzazioni nazionali indipendenti di consumatori attive in Europa. L'obiettivo è far sì che gli interessi dei consumatori europei siano considerati nello sviluppo delle politiche comunitarie.

BEUC, the European Consumers Organisation, represents 34 consumer organisations, from all EU countries as well as accession countries.

Main consumer demands in relation to genetically modified food:
• Information must be provided on whether a food or food ingredients have been genetically modified
• All ingredients derived from GMOs (such as oil) must be labelled even if no longer detectable by testing
• Misleading GMO-free labels are not an acceptable solution for consumers
